Questions for Your Doctor

Appointments are short, and under pressure people forget the one thing they came to ask. These lists exist so you do not have to remember — pick one, delete what does not apply, and take it in with you.

Getting the most out of an appointment

  • Put your most important question first, in case time runs out.
  • Take someone with you, or ask whether you can record the conversation.
  • Bring symptom notes with dates rather than impressions — “three times since June” is actionable.
  • Repeat back what you understood: “So the plan is… have I got that right?”
  • Ask for anything complicated in writing, and ask what to do if results do not arrive.
